About Us

Welcome to Connecticut DECA!

The Connecticut Association of DECA is an association of marketing students in secondary school chapters throughout the state.  Through membership in DECA, students gain valuable insight into the fields of marketing , merchandising, management and entrepreneurship careers.  DECA serves as a showplace for skills learned by students in the marketing education instructional program in their high school.

Through competitive events at the state and national level, as well as state and regional conferences, members in Connecticut DECA build bridges between school and work while linkng student occupational goals with leadership, professional, and community service training opportunities.  CT DECA has grown to 47 chapters with a membership that exceeds 2,500 students and advisors.  DECA members and chapter advisors will use the Live, Learn, Lead formula to achieve the goals and aspirations of each and every student in the marketing environment within our high schools.
Coming off one of the most successful years in recent history in which 12 students qualified as national event finalists, 4 students placed in the top 10 in the country and 3 students won a second place in the country, Connecticut DECA looks to continue its growth.  In addition, Julie Laven, our President of CT DECA for the 2008-09 year was elected as the North Atlantic Region Vice President at the ICDC in Anaheim.  Under the leadership of President Adam Rowe from Maloney High School and the Executive Council, Connecticut DECA is looking forward to even greater results this year.

Whether you are a member, chapter advisor, parent or businessperson, there are countless opportunities for you to benefit from everything that the Connecticut Association of DECA has to offer.  You are invited to browse our site and learn more  about CT DECA.

First founded in 1946 as the Distributive Education Clubs of America, DECA continues to maintain its ambitious goal for improving educational and career opportunities in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship for high school students.  Throughout its existence, DECA has remained on the cutting edge of educational innovation, working with the business community to integrate academic achievement with vocational and career skills.  Although the organization has evolved and grown over time, the fundamental reasons for its forming are still invaluable.

  • Effective marketing education gives young people the tools and aptitudes they need to pursue their dreams.
  • Marketing education works best when it's part of an integrated education program linking classroom instruction with internship experience for career success.
